Robed in the shimmering snow
Deep in the forest of old
Boughs wide and free, dancing for thee
Entered him into a realm unknown

Fared from his warm wooden home
Leaving Spring's seeds all unsown
Entranced by a dream, he rowed on a stream
That far, far away from the world did flow

Sang of her beauty and light
Desperate to find page or knight
To lead him to where the voice in the air
Could end shame and sorrow and free the mind

Weary and old did he grow
On paths longer than he could know
Alive yet away from those numbered sane
His burden the world and his tears his own

Roots pulled him down to the earth
Midwinter sowing rebirth
From deep in the trees flowed a fey breeze
His last breath was drawn for the song he heard
